Gun Dog Training in Hugo MN
We are a professional gun dog training facility located in
Hugo, Minnesota. Our primary focus is on English Cocker and English Springer
Spaniels and British Labradors, but we will train all flushing breeds and
some pointers.
Training Grounds
We
train on our own grounds, which includes a half-acre rabbit pen, but we also have access to over 600 acres within 2 miles of the
kennel grounds
which we use for training daily. Our training locations provide a full range
of conditions, including ponds, woods, brush, crp,
canary grass, cattail sloughs, milo and corn.
Training Requirements Flushing Dogs (Spaniels)
We request that you leave your spaniel for a minimum of 3 1/2 months
for basic training. This will include: introduction to the gun;
retrieve to hand; sit on the flush; handle on blind retrieves; and, basic ground
work including sit, turn, and come back on specific whistle commands.
You
must provide all current vet records showing current rabies, frontline, heart
guard and kennel cough prior to leaving a dog at our facility for training.
Training Requirements (Pointers)
We request that you leave your pointing dog for a minimum of 3 1/2 months
for basic training. This will include: introduction to the gun; retrieve to
hand; hold a point; honor a point; turn, and come back on specific whistle
commands; and teaching your pointer a comfortable range to work within that is
pleasant for both of you, as it is no fun to have a talented dog busting birds
out of gun range due to lack of training.
You must provide all current vet

prior to leaving a dog at our facility for training.
Private Lessons
If you prefer to train your own dog, we offer lessons for
training and handling your dog. Come with
your dog and spend all day or a 1/2 day.
